Anand Mishra is a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2011 batch (Assam-Meghalaya cadre), a social worker, and a public leader dedicated to service and reform. Born on 1st June 1981 to Shri Param Hans Mishra and Lt. Shanti Mishra, his ancestral family hails from Village Jigna, Itarhi, Buxar, Bihar, while his parental home is in Village Prasaunda, Shahpur, Bhojpur, Bihar. He is now settled in Buxar town of Bihar, where his roots remain deeply grounded.

Anand's father, an engineer, worked with Hindustan Motors Company near Kolkata, which shaped his early years in Hooghly district of West Bengal. He completed his matriculation from Hind Motor Education Centre and his higher secondary studies in humanities from Hind Motor High School. He later pursued Political Science (Hons.) from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, followed by a Master's degree in Police Management from Osmania University, Hyderabad.

Fluent in Bhojpuri, Hindi, English, Bengali, and Assamese, Anand Mishra has used his communication skills effectively throughout his professional and public life. Alongside academics, he built diverse interests: he is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Karate, an expert in multiple martial arts, a skilled guitarist, a passionate biker, and an adventure traveler.

Anand Mishra began his career in the West Bengal Civil Services (2005–2011), serving in South Dinajpur, Burdwan, and Kolkata districts in various administrative roles. After qualifying in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (2010), he joined the IPS (2011 batch). His first posting was with the Meghalaya Police, where he served in multiple roles: ASP Shillong, ASP Tura, SDPO Dadenggre, Addl. SP Jowai, Addl. SP Williamnagar, and SP Baghmara.

He played a crucial role in leading Operation Hill Storm I & II, which were instrumental in dismantling insurgency in the Garo Hills region. In 2017, he was transferred to the Assam Police, where he held key assignments: SP, Bureau of Investigation (Economic Offences), SP, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), AIGP (Sports), Assam Police HQ, Guwahati, and SP of multiple districts including Charaideo, Dhubri, Nagaon, and Lakhimpur.

He earned a reputation as a specialist in counter-insurgency operations, anti-corruption drives, anti-mafia measures, anti-narcotics operations, preventive policing, and dismantling organized crime syndicates. His people-centric, no-nonsense policing initiatives transformed the image of law enforcement in sensitive regions. Anand Mishra's work earned him widespread respect and numerous honors.

His exceptional service has been recognized with several prestigious awards including the Police Medal for Gallantry (President's Medal), Chief Minister's Medal for Outstanding Services (Government of Assam), Police Antarik Suraksha Seva Padak (MHA, GOI), Special Duty Medal (NE) (MHA, GOI), and multiple commendations from Directors General of Police of Meghalaya and Assam. He was also featured among the Top 50 Police Officers in India by Fame magazine.

On 29th January 2024, while serving as SSP, Lakhimpur (Assam), Anand Mishra resigned from the IPS to pursue a larger mission of political and social transformation. He contested the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Buxar as an independent candidate, securing nearly 50,000 votes, reflecting the trust of people despite limited resources.

He continued to engage in grassroots work through ANAND Trust and Kamal Seva Kendra, institutions dedicated to citizen services, rural upliftment, and social empowerment across Bihar. On 28th July 2024, Anand extended support to Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj movement, later becoming a founding member of the Jan Suraaj Party when it was formally announced on 2nd October 2024.

As State Youth President (Jan–April 2025), he led the Jan Suraaj Yuva Sangharsh Yatra, covering over 20,000 km on a motorcycle across Bihar. He resigned from Jan Suraaj Party on 11th May, 2025 and kept working for the people of Buxar Independently through his Trust.

Finally, on 19th August 2025, Anand Mishra joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as an active member, aligning his vision of service and reform with a national platform to create meaningful change. His public life began much earlier as a Bal Swayam Sevak in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he imbibed the spirit of discipline and selfless service, continuing as a lifelong swayamsevak. Through these roles, Anand Mishra has shown that leadership is not about power, but about service, responsibility, and the courage to bring change.

Anand Mishra is married to Smt. Archana Tiwari, a fashion designer working with handicraft artisans and sustainable fashion. He remains deeply connected to his native soil, Buxar, Bihar, where his father Shri Param Hans Mishra (Retd. Engineer) and his late mother Smt. Shanti Mishra nurtured in him the values of integrity, discipline, and service. Beyond public service, he is a man of diverse passions with interests in organic farming, long-distance biking expeditions, and outdoor exploration.
